In the 1980s, Cardinal Ratzinger delivered a retreat to the Comunione e Liberazione movement. The theme of the retreat was the three theological virtues.

The conferences were subsequently published in German and translated into English in 1991 under the title "To Look on Christ."

After his election, Crossroad Publishing reissued the book with a new title "The Yes of Jesus Christ."

One can clearly see connections in the chapter on love with Deus Caritas Est.

I would not be surprised to find other similarities with an encyclical on hope and, presumably, on faith.

I will be more than thrilled if this is the topic for the new encyclical. There is so little written on this amazingly rich virtue.
