If I were the PM, I'd send in the Scots Guards playing their bagpipes at the head of four tank divisions to get this woman out. Not only is the response to this a scandal, but so is the response, or lack thereof, from Her Majesty's Government.

Just a hypothetical exercise here: Shouldn't we as Christians be upset when the name of God is blasphemed?Obviously the Muslim response is over the top and the Christian should not see violence as a solution here (as Pope Benedict often observes). Just a thought.

Yes, the response of some Muslims has certainly been over-the-top (that's putting it nicely). But also, Muhammad is a common name for Muslim boys, right? Is it possible that the kids (some of whom are not Muslim, I understand), chose the name because it is just so familiar to them? At any rate, if any of the children thought it was offensive, wouldn't they have voiced their concerns in class and not allowed the name to be chosen? It seems like they must have thought it was an appropriate thing to do. And the teacher, it seems, was equally ignorant of how it would be seen by others.

actually it might not be safe for the students and their families as well, b/c it was none of them that complained or protested, they were pleased with the teachers work...
