Yes, we just had a 100 year record low in Houston. There's a change in climate!

Let's be honest here - CO2 generated by people does not cause climate change. Science - pure unadulterated science. And FINALLY more scientists are being vocal about this fact! In 5 years when those who belong to the religion of CO2 realize that the planet has been continually cooling for 6 years where will the Church's position be?? Here's an idea! Let's take all of the energy and enthusiasm that was going to be put into the CCCC and instead, foster vocation!! Wouldn't that be AMAZING!

Leaving the politics out of it - stewardship of our planet is required by our faith.
Putting politics into it makes it salvation through environmentalism. We can't "save" the planet. But, we can do a better job of keeping it clean. Radical environmentalism has gone mainstream and many Catholics have jumped on board as well.
I maintain that we should have a proper understanding of stewardship of our resources, but it isn't the most important thing we should be doing in every parish in the USA. How about we teach the Gospel and basic catechesis first?

Do you know who sponsors these things? Not S. Francis, I'll wager.

Oh good, I was worried that global warming was happening, and that it was a bad thing overall, and that we were responsible for it, and that we could fix it, and were not doing anything.
The sane, Catholic stewardship of the earth approach, as rightly suggested by Marcel, can be covered by reasonably intelligent people in about, 5 five minutes. The rest is political correctness and and excsue to set up a new office. imho.

My parishioners are always hoping for a "short" homily. They usually get the homily they need which means I will be continuing to preach on Faithful Citizenship after an election. Abortion and immigration reform are on the top of my list. Climate change can wait until there is clear scientific evidence that it is something we can even effect in some meaningful way. The aforesaid items, we already know what to do about them! "Get-r-done!!!"

Global Warming is one of the biggest frauds in history. Since temperatures have been dropping for the past 7 or 8 years, it's been changed to "Climate Change". Before that, it was Global Freezing.
It's a funding opportunity for people who don't want to get real jobs, and, as catholicfundamentalism.com suggests on several columns this month, is nothing more than the Trotskyite wing of the Democratic Party trying to get a well-funded empire of their own, like the Stalinist wing has in public education. No good can come of it.

I don't that believe that climate change, aka "global warming", is a realistic event. There is simply no basis of fact, or, if anything, there are more facts to prove that it does NOT exist. Global warming is a platform invented by liberals and perpetuated by the liberal media for and to support their agendas.
Having said that, I think every Catholic, actually every human being, should do what he can to protect and efficient utilized this wonderful creation, Earth, which God has given to us.

I sort of cringe when I hear about the Holy Father associating himself in any way with "global warming" or "climate change." As a Catholic, I am concerned about proper use of resources. As a person with what I would hope is common sense, I'm opposed to treating limited resources as if they were unlimited capital. I'm glad the hierarchy is concerned about the environment. But they'll end up with mud on their faces if they start spouting off about the pseudo-science of climate change. Best to stick to sound principles and avoid the "fad of the day."

Never has an issue with so little scientific backing ever gotten so many people to do so much.
I find my self in awe at the efforts done to prevent something that might not even be preventable. If anything we should prepare for climate change rather than try to delay it or stop it.

BTW they have created a new theory as to why the earth has not "heated up" like it should (according to their models). It is an effect of particulate matter (dirt and dust) in the air which deflects light, thereby causing a "negating-effect" to global warming.
But watch out, as the air is "cleaned" by stricter air standards, we could see a catastrophic warming effect. All brought to you within 20-30 years.
Their source of data: US air models from 9-12-2001 when no jets flew.
Soilent Green everybody. Sound the alarm now!!!

Well, I'm glad they're organizing environmentally, but do they really have to fall for this climate change bunk? Talk about making Catholics look silly while doing something helpful... oy!
