Gravatar Bishop Hermann, the Saint Louis Archdiocesan administrator since our dear Archbishop Burke went to Rome has been courageously speaking out and continues to do so.

Gravatar Hey guys- don't forget our Cardinal Rigali of Philly. When City Council in its wisdom, declared that the city was a pro-choice burg, the Cardinal responded, hard, in about five minutes. The motion was rescinded at Council's next meeting. Oh, yeah, back to the Phillies parade. Millions upon millions flocking from City Hall to the stadium complex to welcome our 2008 World Series champs. Whoo hoo!

Gravatar Frankly, I think that one thing specifically has encouraged our bishops to speak out courageously on behalf of the unborn and on behalf of the true teaching of the Catholic Church - Pope Benedict XVI. I believe that his trip to the US gave our bishops inspiration (and a boot in the pants!) that they needed. I am so thrilled about this. I don't think it was coincidental that the timing of the pope's visit came when it did. It gave them all a chance to digest and ruminate on what the good shepherd told them, and us, about living a true radical life under Jesus Christ. We all have to get out of our Catholic comfort zones, and are now being given great examples of that by our bishops. Regardless of the outcome of this election, Catholicism in America is beginning to experience a rejuvenation that will hopefully continue. We all need to pray and seriously search our hearts and souls to discern what obstacles are keeping us from radically following Jesus and evangelizing our loved ones.
