Gravatar This Michigan Catholic just got the DVD in the mail. The cover letter reads great. Will watch the DVD tonight.

Gravatar Dr. Peters, my parents live in Michigan so they will receive this as well. Will you let us (ok, me!) know what you think of it when you view it? Thanks.

Gravatar Got mine in the mail a couple of days ago. I read the cover letter and a fact-sheet, but haven't had time to view the DVD. It's only 12 minutes or so. My grandmother got hers yesterday, my parents hadn't gotten their copy yet.

There are also some nice resources listed (most of which I knew about), along with a wonderful comparison of diseases/illnesses that are being treated by Adult stem cells vs. embryonic stem cells (73-0, guess which has 0). I really like the question/answer portion of the brochure-style fact sheet. It does a good job of covering the basics...why embryonic stem cell research is opposed, the Church's position on adult stem cells, etc.

Gravatar Posting amid computer woes, but:

1. The DVD "looks" professional, not that cheesy quality that so many Christian groups settle for.

2. The people they choose to feature were terrific, both content and image-wise.

3. The science was understandable; the "politics" less so.

4. My only criticisms: they could have quite legitimately hit the bad guys harder, and not lost their audience; they should explain the distinction between adult stem cells and embryo stem cells right up front. Minor points both.

The Michigan bishops have their act together. This is a fine service.

Gravatar ps: I'll send American Papist a copy in his next home stuff package.

Gravatar Thanks Dr. Peters. My parents were very happy to receive and view it. They had somewhat of the same comment re distinction up front. Thanks for your analysis!

Gravatar If the material isn't copyrighted could someone post it on youtube or google? I'm down in North Carolina, I'd like to see it.

Thanks
