Ah, but if you had taken classes with some of the Scripture professors I had, you would understand the astonishment. One recounted that they were all shocked to learn that the pool described in the Gospel according to John existed!

This is a rare find, but you shouldn't expect this sort of thing.

Much of biblical archeology contradicts many biblical stories (do some research on the Conquest described in Joshua--it doesn't even cohere with the story of the arrival of the Israelites in the book of Judges).
