Wow, a brave man indeed. I liked your line that he "escaped out from Bishop Tod Brown." I think the way Bishop Soto expressed his thoughts and Church teaching was done in a very pastoral and kind way. Hopefully he made a few converts that day. Tom

This is downright inspiring- first a whole bunch of bishops stand up for the truth about abortion, and now this! What a great month we're having!
I, too, am looking for his email address to thank him.
However, if you read the comments at Rod's blog, it is distressing to read about Soto's protective actions toward abusive priests.

Well, one can admonish him for whatever wrong he has done (or whatever good omitted), and praise him for this courageous stand.
Roman Crusader...what a hoot!! Are you talking about the Pope Benedict? He has very very spoken often in favor of respect for the environment. He has also mentioned a need for respect of animals. And he has said there is no conflict between evolution and the book of Genesis at a meeting with priests when he was on vacation.
Yay for Bishop Soto! And too bad for those who walked out!
Dave, couple of things:
1. there's a difference between evolution and darwinism. i'm not necessarily against evolution as long as it doesn't deny that adam and eve are our ancestors. darwinism rejects the fact that adam eve were our first ancestors.
2. i didn't say we shouldn't take care of the environment, i just think the environmentalists are goint too far when they make it priority over human rights.
I looked for an email address on the Sacramento diocese website and, alas, found none. I guess you would have to snail mail him at the address on the website. Anyone else out there luckier than I?

As Catholics we are free to believe in ex nihilo creation. Why the apolgies for evolution among so many Catholics?
There is nothing new about protecting the environment.
