Very interesting...Although every fiber in my being wants to think that this was a purely a political move. Some part of me wonders if more isn't at play here. I believe it was Inside the Vatican did a piece on Hilary several months back in which they looked at her relationship with Mother Teresa. Perhaps Bl. Mother Teresa interceding on Mrs. Clinton's behalf. Let's hope that Mrs. Clinton has an authentic change of heart...it would be Mother Teresa greatest miracle.

J.D., Your hope is truly extraordinarily virtuous! Am sure the Saints are praying for H. Rodham Clinton but her trajectory at this point could have her falling short of glory. Just for the fun of it: "Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you saints and apostles and prophets, because God has pronounced judgment for you against her." Rev 18:20

It is rumored that before she went on camera once, that a pair of lights crashed right by her on the floor, and she jumped out of her chair exclaiming "Jesus, Mary, and Joseph". Her childhood faith might just be coming back!

I want a T-shirt with this on it.
Also, did they have to do a skin graph after she wore it? I hear that the flesh of vampires burns at the touch of a sacred image...

Excellent work, Thomas. You've got a sharp eye.
I'm guessing she started wearing this as part of her electoral costume a few weeks ago, at the start of her Pennsylvania primary campaign. Like her accent, favorite sports team, and personal biography, Hillary's fashion changes with the audience.
On the upside, those are cool bracelets.

Isn't Senator Clinton pro-choice? If so, why is she wearing a bracelet with icons of the Blessed Virgin Mary?
At the very least, it smacks of political pandering. As has been noted above.

I think
a) you don't really see it very much! it took AP's sharp eye to catch it! if she really wanted to show off she could have worn something more evident
b) she's free to wear what she wants, none of us know what is going on in her, with her relationship with God...so I wouldn't be too hasty on judging
Just to clarify I am not her supporter, as I am not even American so this is just my humble opinion as an outside observer!
God Bless!

I thought she would be wearing a bracelet of pop star Madonna.
It is ironic her wearing a bracelet that contains Our Lady of Guadeloupe considering how pro-abort she is.
I also find the Mother Teresa picture odd considering the saintly dressing down she got at the National Prayer Breakfast from her. I also remember Hillary at Blessed Mother Teresa's funeral She looked bored as Hell and like she would rather be anywhere else.

Its disturbing that there are enough Catholic Democrats to make a difference. I can not fathom how they reconcile it. It must take a particular formation of conscience...I'm not specifically judging, just not relating - at all.
When it comes down to anything remotely related to Cahtolic culture or belief, what exactly is the difference between Obama and Clinton?

Roman,
Hillary is a public supporter of abortion. If she wants to amend that, she's gotta publicly recant her old views. Otherwise, she's talking out of both sides of her mouth.

I'm utterly appalled by the words "Catholics vote Hillary Obama" in the same sentence. How can a Catholic possibly vote for either? What has happened to the pro-life position in the Church? Every Catholic who votes for Hillary or Obama should be ashamed of themselves.
This is from Pope Benedict's homily at Yankee Stadium last weekend:
The first reading also makes clear, as we see from the imposition of hands on the first deacons, that the Church’s unity is “apostolic”. It is a visible unity, grounded in the Apostles whom Christ chose and appointed as witnesses to his resurrection, and it is born of what the Scriptures call “the obedience of faith” (Rom 1:5; cf. Acts 6:7).
“Authority” … “obedience”. To be frank, these are not easy words to speak nowadays. Words like these represent a “stumbling stone” for many of our contemporaries, especially in a society which rightly places a high value on personal freedom. Yet, in the light of our faith in Jesus Christ – “the way and the truth and the life” – we come to see the fullest meaning, value, and indeed beauty, of those words. The Gospel teaches us that true freedom, the freedom of the children of God, is found only in the self-surrender which is part of the mystery of love. Only by losing ourselves, the Lord tells us, do we truly find ourselves (cf. Lk 17:33). True freedom blossoms when we turn away from the burden of sin, which clouds our perceptions and weakens our resolve, and find the source of our ultimate happiness in him who is infinite love, infinite freedom, infinite life. “In his will is our peace”.
Authority & Obedience.. so what's it going to be, Church? Without both we're no different than the Protestants who pick and choose their beliefs like a buffet dinner.

I like to think the bracelet has the faces of all the people who have crossed Hillary in the past...people who now 'sleep with the fishes.'

She came to my town the day of the Primary (I'm from Pennsylvania) and when he came to shake my hand I noticed that braclet and wondered, "She's not Catholic, not even pro-life. How could she wear this?" I took a picture of it, thinking it couldn't be the real Hillary. I guess it was.

It is total pandering, but the reason (I hope!) that Catholics could vote for either Obama or Hillary is because this is the primary and those are the two choices. In those cases, you'd want to vote so as to minimize future damage. The only differences I can see between the two are; 1.He voted against the Born Alive Protection Act and 2. with her, we have a slightly better chance of knowing what she'll be trying to enact as prez since she's had the opportunity to be vocal about that in the past.

During the co-presidency, she wore a long black leather coat with some kind of dragon/gang insignia-like design embroidered on the back on the day she testified before a D.C. grand jury. I distinctly remember the outfit because it struck me as so bizarre...now I see it is yet another example of her cynical approach to establishing a sympathetic bond with audiences. On that day she figured the D.C. jury had gang sympathizers, today it's the lower middle class, mid western Dress-Barn ladies.

-Re: Catholics and Democrats (responding to a prior comment)-
To identify the being-of-a-good Catholic with a political party (presumably Republicans) is a mistake.
A good Catholic thinks with the mind of the Church. Not with the mind of Republocrats.
-----------
And I derno about the pandering. Those bracelets *are* nice and the earthy tones complement the blue - so it may just be a wardrobe choice.
Then again, I know Catholic elderly women who tend to fixate on those sorts of small things. But are such women really so attentive to detail?
Speculation on this seems a bit pointless.

Why must it be cynical? Might it not also be a gift to her from a Catholic friend? One does not have to pass a litmus test in order to wear praise of Mary.

You know what, she's been wearing that bracelet since at least March 1. Here's a picture of the bracelet at a rally in Texas. Maybe, just maybe, she's wearing the bracelet because someone gave it to her. Or because she likes it.
