Now, it is clearly the opposite. The proponents of the various secular ideologies that were once terrified of being compromised by the “encumbrances” of Catholic morality have now clearly invaded our Catholic schools and the various secular ideologies have become policy from Catholic kindergarten to university.

looks good to me. I'd like having a shadow of the Church over our schools.

My son's experience in his 9th grade English class shows that Catholic principles are still very unwelcome in the classroom.

We Catholics are idiots.
Every hear of the "Separation of Church and State"?
This unconstitutional doctrine exists as a result of anti-Catholic hatred and fear associated with our schools.
The next time someone barks "separation" at you, call him a bigot.
It is kind of like saying "segregation" to a black man.

Actually the Separation of Church and State, as our forefathers intended it, was an excellent protection of our freedom. It was meant to keep America from adopting a state-sponsored religion so that all men could worship freely. Unfortunately, it has been misinterpreted ever since and now people actually believe the lie that it was somehow meant to keep citizens from exercising their faith-informed consciences in their places of work and leisure. Jefferson must be rolling in his grave.

"Separation of church and state" is one of the most mis-used phrases in our lexicon. It is not a description of the intent of the First Amendment. It was a phrase used by Thomas Jefferson - someone who wasn't even in the country at the time the amendment was ratified - in a letter to a Baptist organization. Unfortunately, the Warren Court decided to turn this into actual constitutional doctrine, and we've been stuck with it ever since.

If only the students dressed like they are in the picture, and the Pope had his tiara! ;-)

Separation of Church and State was simply intended to mean that no Church, Anglican, Methodist, Catholic, etc., could be established as a state church. From that time (particularly in the 1960s) it has been perverted into meaning that a Church should not be in the public arena, something our Founding Fathers would have found shocking indeed. Tom

I write for a diocesan newspaper and am in the process of writing an article about a parish's 150th anniversary.
A 94-year-old member of the parish told me how when he was a kid in the 1920s he went to a one-room public school at which the only teacher was Catholic.
The KKK burnt a cross in the field across from the school.
Oh, and they also unsuccessfully tried to burn down the parish's school.
Now the parish is a pillar in its community in a variety of ways...

"The abuse of a good does not diminish the good of a good. The abuse of the priesthood does not diminish the good of the priesthood" Matthew Kelly
Acts 5:15
15As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter's shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by.
sure looks like a lot of people found hope from the first Pope
