Gravatar Did you hit up the Vigil at DHS as well? It's quite nice.

Gravatar I had the pleasure of meeting Fr. Benedict a few months ago during the EWTN family celebration in Birmingham, Al.
What an amazing man!
During the meet n' greet, you could have books autographed. I got 'A Virtue Driven Life' signed by him. When people in line would get close to him, the guards would tell us to "NOT TOUCH HIS RIGHT ARM!". Come to find out, it was broken! His arm was all bruised up.

After the celebration, we headed up to the Shrine Of The Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville (close to our hometown of Cullman). When we got inside, we noticed a small line of people waiting outside a hallway. We got in line out of curiosity. One of the Sisters was close to the line and we heard her say "I'm not sure if it's because there are so many people here or what!", but Mother Angelica was wanting to see people!
we all proceeded slowly down a hallway to a small room where she sat behind the gate.
She wasn't speaking, but she would hold your hand, listen to you and nod.
It was amazing...

anyway, i made a big post about it here if you care to read/see (lots of photos) :)

Gravatar Good Jesuit News:

St. Louis University (SLU) was sued by the Masons. The Masons contended that a Catholic school couldn't receive public funding (for redevelopment of an area around their Basketball arena), b/c they were Catholic.

SLU used the defense in court, HONEST TO GOD, that they were not actually a Catholic school, and so could receive the funding.

SLU won the case, and got a couple of million. The Masons released a statement saying, "We can't believe they would sell their Catholic heritage for a few dollars."

What's the good news? At least SLU is being honest.

Gravatar I'm so thankful to see Fr Benedict out and about. He is a trooper! I pray God lets him stay with us for a few years yet.

Gravatar My late uncle was head of the Catholic Information Center. What great work they do there.
