I'm so bummed I can't be there! I will pray for ToT tonight- it should be really great. The beer at the Essen Haus is great, too. Madison is my home diocese and I miss it terribly. Anyway, go get 'em!

You might want to have a look at today's Flying McCoys cartoon, as it's topical.

It's great to hear that you'll be doing Theology on Tap in my hometown and home diocese of Madison. As a fellow alumnus of Sacred Heart and native Madisonian, I tell you now, the mean streets of Detroit in general are equivalent to the mean secular progressive streets of Madison for papist. Have some great beer at the Essen Haus, don't drop "the boot", and watch out for the Freedom From Religion group, they might be looking for you on their home turf. God bless and safe travels.

Matt,
Ha...that's the first time I've ever heard Madison compared to Detroit, unless we're talkin' Mifflin St.
It sure is a unique city, isn't it?

That's my parish in Madison! Well, actually Holy Redeemer is my parish, but we got merged in with the cathedral and another parish.
If the parish administration hadn't banned anyone not in their 20's and 30's from coming to Theology on Tap (along with about half the other parish events), I'd have told my mom to come by and meet you. (I go to Ave Maria University, so I'm not home now.) But unfortunately the parish seems to think that those of us under 20 or over 39 either don't exist or don't matter, so I'll have to wait until the day when we can get you out here to AMU!

Little off topic, but relevant:
Father Corapi's new newsletter and I quote:
"In the past few months leading up to what may prove to be the most crucial presidential election in this country's history, it is outright frightening how many Catholics think they can vote for a pro-abortion candidate. As many of our good bishops have pointed out, under the current circumstances this is not possible. Abortion is the overridingly most important moral issue of our times, all others being important, but rendered irrelevant if the preeminent right—the right to life—is destroyed."
He spells it out clearly, either you are in allegiance with the Bishop of Rome or you are in negation and apostacy!!!
Barry and Biden have NEVER met an abortion they would not sanction....as opposed to the most pro life ticket in modern US history!!!

Sen. Obama is very bad on abortion; Sen. Biden is also bad, but not quite as bad.
He voted in favor of the federal ban on partial birth abortions.
He also is reportedly opposed to public funding of abortions.
Check out his record here.

Biden does have the better record, but ultimately both he and Obama drink from the same subjectivist well. When one thinks abortion is merely subjectively evil, then a personal opposition to it is no more meaningful than a personal opposition to the designated hitter rule.

Thomas,
I just uploaded some Madison Theology on Tap lectures -- let me know if yours gets recorded as well and I'll link yours, too.
God Bless,
