It's always difficult to think of historical figures as flesh-and-blood human beings, especially when all we have are paintings (and more recently old, old photographs) to refer to. It's awesome to see our Holy Fathers Leo XIII and Pius XI in action. It really brings history and the Tradition of the Church alive.
