I've always been leery of Medjugorje, and this only adds to my suspicions.

It sounds like Fr. Vlasic is really in a pickle.

Cap'n, I was hoping to make a joke about shriveled cucumbers, but you beat me to the gherkin. I'm green with envy. You layer on the humor in thick, tasty slices as only a bread-and-butter jokester could. Hopefully, it's considered Kosher to do such things...but then if this priest wasn't willing to meet his fatherly obligations (any of them) then I guess it just means he's a real dill weed.

TNP: Your title is misleading. It seems it is the priest (who has been distanced from Medjugorje and for along time now anyway) who the Vatican has taken action against and not Medjugorje. So,we are still waiting for the Vatican to make a ruling on this site and the visionaries, until then, nothing has really changed concerning Medjugorje. I thought Deacon Greg on his Medjugorje post earlier this week shared with us some very good advice concerning this, especially in his blogger comments box. If anyone is interested learning more, I suggest they go over to THE DEACON'S BENCH BLOG and read what he and others had to say. Also, I was disappointed to hear that the blog: spiritdaily, isn't sounding too kosher,if the criticism is true.I would like Michael Brown to comment. But if we all avoided the spiritual things receiving bad press
we would all have to become hermits. We've had our share of bad priests but we still love the Church.

It's become very clear over the years that Medjugorje is not authentic. Why people keep trying to defend the "seers" amazes me.
My grandma visited Medjugorje years ago before all the controversy and she had a very good experience. Anyone who wishes to bring themselves closer to God will be able to do so. Of course God would bring some good out of those mislead by Medjugorje. Still it's clear by the lack of obedience alone that this is not of God.

Lack of obedience is the key. Our Lady would never encourage such a thing, ever.

You should see the way Michael H. Brown on Spirit Daily spun this just in the title he used which led people to the article on Catholic Culture news (formerly CWNews).
As he has so many times before, he made the bishop look bad. I took a snapshot of what he had there yesterday, and today, he went and put another link up with a heading of "Bishop versus franciscans".
It's disgusting to see people attack the Church this way, no matter how subtle.

this scandal goes back to the early 1990's. And Vlasic is not the main priest behind Medjugorje,
Sounds like the Bishop of Mostar is peddling his objections again. In the middle of the Yugoslavian civil war, when Mostar was in the midst of battle,Muslims in Mostar were being beseiged, and the Catholic churches desecrated by Serbs, the bishop said the major problem for the church was Medjugorje...

Gossip,slander,division...ruin friendship, cast doubt, donot edify, quench the Holy Spirit. Gossip and this kind of talk are all the work of evil. *It's disgusting to see people attack the Church.* Dianne, are we playing the same game?. People seem to forget, that WE, the people, ARE the Church...When I spend some time praying ,being quiet and listening to JESUS, and verifying my thoughts by reading the Bible, I feel like I will not read these blogs and comments again.Except,Dr.Ed,ofcourse?..:-)GOD SPEED.

I am afraid when I hear "Vlasic" I can only think of pickles (which I can't stand). Chris, your post is cool as a cucumber! ;-)
Never did understand about Medjugorje and why it's so controversial. That's the thing about Protestants, we seldom see or hear anything quite so grand, and when we do it's ascribed to something mundane.

I read that the priest was suspended, in part, for sins "contra sextum." Suspension for sins against the 6th commandment suggests a very serious scandal, indeed.

If Medjugorje is so manifestly fraudulent why has the Vatican not acted as it has in numerous other cases?
Personally I wont be guided by the UK Daily Mail. I'll wait for the Pope.

It certainly does cast aspersions on the seers. they said Vlasic was a living saint!
This is official from the Vatican, too. The UK paper is merely reporting it, not inventing it.
Also, it makes the Blessed Virgin so banal, 40, 000 times! Come on now, only gullible, sign-seekers would believe that! See the gospel about what Jesus said about those who seek signs rather than truth.

Glad to see you've noticed the incredibly high amount of spin that the author, with a huge anti-Medugorje agenda, has added to the facts.
Crackdown on Medugorje?
