Gravatar But I wonder what type of laws we are preserving.

Uhhh...ones that correspond with reality?

Gravatar I guess NCR isn't interested in Catholic readers. Tom

Gravatar Old voices from "young" Catholics. My daughter and her husband are in Austria while he earns a master's in Theology at the ITI. He'll be looking for theology work; maybe his is a young voice that NCR will pay for. He can supply reviews of the up-and-coming EF Masses in the US!

Gravatar "NCR went looking among this generation and found four young Catholics ...from different backgrounds and with different connections to the church"

Does anyone want to put money on their ideology?

I wonder if they would be interested in articles from youth about how the Latin Mass has increased their love of the Faith and the joy of Tradition?

Also, I think their choice of words were interesting, they "went looking", as if they had to search them out.

Gravatar I'm sure they had to do a bit of looking to find young Catholics who live the "joyful dissent" mantra of NCR.

Gravatar Naturally, they were hand picked. It would have been bold to pick them at random or by SAT scores or something non-ideological.

The NY state supreme court, I thought, laid to rest the whole discrimination argument to same-sex "marriages" when it said that everyone is free to marry someone of the opposite sex, including homosexuals.

Also, "discrimination" can be used against them. Homosexual men discriminate against the half of the population that is physically different to themselves, and only on that physical difference. Homosexuality is inherently discriminatory. "If" marriage laws discriminate against them, it's only because they discriminate against women. If they didn't discriminate against women, the law wouldn't be discriminatory!

Gravatar They must have had to look really hard to find liberal caotholics to spew garbage like that. Good work in such a futile search. No sensible minded Catholic should ever read or subscribe to this NCR nonsense

Gravatar A sad grasp at fresh blood from the dessicated vampires of the Nasty Critical Rag...'cuse me, now I have to go to confession...

Fr. Philip, OP

Gravatar Fr. Philip shows great wit, but no mercy. I luv it.

This "young voices" schtick has been around for as long as I can remember. When I first noticed it, I thought, "Golly, those guys are old." Then I noticed, there were about my age, then they became younger than me, and now, jiminy, they're just kids!

Gravatar Are we ever going to outgrow a cult of youth? Has it been demonstrated that "youth", in and of itself, confers an understanding or perspective that is worthy of regard?

Gravatar Sadly, I don't think they had to look hard for dissenting young "Catholic" voices. They might have had to look hard for dissenting "Catholic" young voices with any religious formation past Confirmation, though.

Gravatar To paraphrase the noted political philosopher, Peter Townshend: "Meet the new voice, same as the old voice!"

Gravatar From the picture, I can't tell if she is a Sister of Mercy or not, she seems to be dressed like one and has the same haircut.

Gravatar Well, according to her mini-bio at NCR (didn't that used to be National Cash Register?) she's a graduate of Harvard Divinity and works for Call To Action, of all things! Doesn't say if she's a nun, although her writing does admirably mimic the voice of nuns "of a certain age."

Isn't Harvard one of those venerable Catholic universities, like Notre Dame and Georgetown?

Gravatar Harvard is and was always a secular Protestant school from my understanding. Just like Yale.

Gravatar This is vital, though, folks: when she says "privilege", she's speaking in Marxist terms. The liberation theology/Marxist analysis is rampant in certain subjects in the universities today and might even be gaining in strength. At the very least, it's not going anywhere soon.

Gravatar Joseph,

Yes, I know the history of Harvard. I was poking fun at our "Catholic" universities.

Gravatar tom, I very much appreciate you & other Catholic blog hosts who take the trouble to read & expose baloney like this latest from the Reporter & the three "nuns" who responded to Bishop Chaput. I appreciate you because I just don't have the time, interest or stomach to crawl through all of the smoke & mirrors...and this election campaign has only made the lefties in the Catholic Church more repugnant to me.
