This is scary.
I wonder if something like this ever could happen at the National Basilica in Washington, DC.
But, I guess there are some safeguards.

Speaking of confessions, is it okay to ask if anyone has any recommendations for confessors in the DC area, preferably after work? I like the Basilica, but it's kind of a hit-or-miss over there. My favorite used to be St Patrick's downtown - when they had excellent priests and white noise outside the confessional so no one could hear you - but they stopped having afternoon confessions and Masses. I guess I should just be grateful that I work in an area that has daily confessions.

Gravatar I've suspected Fr. Andrew Greely of "faking priest" for years.

Just kidding!

Sort of.

Gravatar "He was caught by surprise in the basilica..."

Well nobody expects the Inquisition!

[somebody had to say it]

Try the Francsican Monastery at 1400 Quincy, NE. They have a website.

There's the Catholic Information Center on K St. (west of 15th), NW.

Gravatar Frankie J,
The CIC is Opus Dei-just letting you know because it matters one way or the other for some folks.

Across the river on the VA side, St. Lawrence has confession Wed. nights. Van Dorn exit, south to Franconia, right to just past the Paradiso restaurant. No website, but it's on the diocesan website. It's a great little parish, too; turns out quite a few priests.
