Gravatar I am continually amazed by the impudence of those in our community who know nothing about Catholicism and, yet, feel fully qualified to argue theology and/or the dogmatic tenets of the Roman Catholic Church or to critize those beliefs when vocalized by its leaders or followers. (In fact, it reminds me of the lyrics of an old song by the comedian Steve Martin, “…criticize things you don’t know about…”)

Additionally, I am always perplexed as to why those who are not Catholic are so utterly disturbed and compelled to speak out when the leader of the Roman Catholic Church in this Archdiocese comments or acts upon his personal beliefs, or offers instruction to those who are in agreement with the dogma of said Church. I assure you, in day-to-day life, Catholics have very little to say with regard to the rules and regulations of other religious sects that exist, and certainly do not have the audacity to openly critize those other groups.

The Catholic Church is not an organization run by committees who rely on Robert’s Rules of Order when they deem it necessary to change the bylaws of the organization simply because the majority of the group doesn’t like the rules anymore. The Catholic Church is a 2,000+ year old insitution that, “since the first century…has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 2271)

That Archbishop Raymond Burke has the courage to vocalize and defend not only his personal beliefs, but the beliefs that (if one is to call himself Roman Catholic)his followers espouse is certainly commendable in this day and age when so many do not have the fortitude to do so.

That he continues to do so in spite of the public hatred and ridicule he endures is a testament to the obligation he has willingly undertaken in order defend his faith and the faith of so many others around the world–remember, the Roman Catholic Church exists beyond the borders of our city.

Thankfully, Archbishop Burke is one of the few (very few) members of the heirarchy of the Church who has a mind and spine strong enough to stand up for his beliefs.

Gravatar Ron Paul is the strongest Pro-Life candidate in the race!

Gravatar Why do I get the feeling that this "innocence by proxy" is also Guilliani's strategy for pleading his case on Judgment Day?

I mean, if he is so fabulously self-deluded as to believe that could work on the voters, he probably thinks he can hoodwink God Himself.

Gravatar No one cares what other people think. It is the fact of the situation that Guilliani is neither Catholic nor pro-life.

Does he think he can prove his faith by having his Aunt come forward and verify she was at his confirmation? Why not get someone to testify that he is Lutheran or a professional wrestler? It makes as much sense.

Guilliani has no idea that his "strengths" are the greatest weakness in the party and that he will cause the split if he does not step down.

Shame on him for embarrassing American Catholics and sham on him for putting self-promotion before the good of the party.

Gravatar This goes to show you that the Republican party IS NOT PROLIFE! This is exactly why I do not endorse the Republican nor the Democrat parties. God doesn't ask us to win elections, just be loyal to Christ and His Church. I'll rely on God to end abortions.

Gravatar Brownback to meet Rudy
By Alexander Bolton
October 25, 2007

Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.) is considering endorsing Rudy Giuliani for the GOP presidential nomination and will meet with him Thursday in Washington to hear his views on abortion.

Brownback, who ended his White House run last week and is a champion of social conservative issues, said he would consider Giuliani because he had heard that the former New York City mayor had changed his position on partial-birth abortion and has pledged to appoint to the courts strict constructionists who would not overturn anti-abortion laws.
