Think for a second here: If you want Bobby to run for President in 2012, that means McCain would have lost in 2008 to HRC or BO. Not good, people!

A McCain loss in 2008 would be a sufficient, but not a necessary prerequisite for election in 2012 of his hypothetical 2008 running mate.

President McCain, given his age, might decide not to seek reelection in 2012, clearing the way for V.P. Jindal to succeed him.
