A good friend of mine knows Bishop Vigneron well and I have no doubt that my friend would be excited to see that happen. Bishop Vigneron is highly regarded.

I'm curious as to why you and JACK think Bishop Vigneron would be such a good choice aside from the fact that he is from the Detroit area. As a member of the Oakland Diocese, I can tell you Bishop Vigneron's tenure has been less then remarkable. He makes a few public appearences, shows up to the Walk-for- Life, but by and large is silent and non-responsive. The Oakland Diocese continues to foster dissenting priests and widespread liturgical abuses. He recently approved a priest to head a large parish who was arrested several years ago for a lewed sexual act in public. I believe he is a good and holy man but this has not translated in his episcopate. Thanks.

gravey, he sounds just like Dolan in Milwaukee. All talk...and NO action. Weakland and his faction continue to run the diocese. Recently when Archbisop Dolan failed to be elected to anything at the Bishops Conference, his friend Cardinal George appointed him to some committee. Now he can spend more time outside the diocese, when he isn't here much to begin with.

Vigneron is a top-notch bishop. In the diocese of Oakland, he inherited a heretical mess, so one should not be too fast to judge him negatively. It takes time to set aright the mistakes of 40 years.

Margaret, the weather report this evening predicted bad driving conditions for Wisconsin. Doubtless, it was Abp. Dolan's fault.
