Gravatar Thomas,

Thank you so much for the wallpapers and all the Bella links in one place! I have seen the film twice and met the actors, director, the producer and the executive producer. This movie is nothing short of a miracle. Each of their lives have been changed in some way by making this film. I know women will identify with Nina. What she ultimately does is surrender her power of ‘choice.’ It is a very hard thing to surrender when you are terrified of your future. Actually, it is heroic. I see Ninas every week at the women’s clinic where I work. For a woman today to make the leap of faith required to even consider adoption, it takes Sanctifying Grace. Most women say it is easier to deal with the abortion choice that to carry a pregnancy and then (as they see it) abandon a child. If everyone who sees this movie would commit to praying once a week for all of the Ninas out there, it would bear wonderful fruit!

God bless,

SC

Gravatar I must say I'm puzzled by all the reviews saying what a great movie this is. Sure, Nina chooses life, but the movie never tells you why. You never learn her motivation because there is no development of her character. Moreover, you pretty much know within the first several minutes how it's going to end. There is no tension, no context, no actual story. I commend the filmmakers for trying to make a pro-life movie, but I just don't think it's very good.

Gravatar Grandpa and Grandma Morelli plan to see BELLA this coming Saturday. Hope you know that you have a fan here in St. Louis. His name is Father Bene. He is pastor of Cure De Ars Parish off of Laclede Station Rd near Kenrick seminary. He is also a Canon Lawyer and is a judge on the Marriage Tribunal of the Archdiocese. He reads your blog. from time to time.

Gravatar Your last paragraph sums up how I felt. With a minute left in the movie I was afraid I'd be disappointed, but then BAM the whole movie was perfect. It was like Jesus at the Cross saying, "It is Accomplished." Awesome review. I suppose I didn't have the same complaint of Nina's development, because she is so much like so many people I know that I felt like I knew her almost from the beginning.

Gravatar It was a powerful movie. I almost wept twice because of the powerful scenes involved. The tension about which CHOICE she'd take was well worked out.

Most men simply don't grasp how widespread Nina's mental state is. I mean it seems logical that giving a child life and 'abandoning' it at least gives the child a 50/50 chance of a good life whereas an abortion removes all possibility for the future. So it seems 'logically' that abortion is the worst choice. But women see it differently. Somehow it's sold that killing the child is mercy and giving birth and giving it up is a fate worst than death itself.

Now this doesn't make sense. But it is common and it points to a huge mental and emotional turmoil that verges on insanity; women making this 'choice' are nearly literally 'not in their right minds' and thus need love, protection, support, to remove these irrational fears of their and their child's future life.

Nothing like abortion challenges the Christian sense of Hope - trust in God's promises and future grace. To abort is to abandon all hope for that child (and ones own self being capable of loving that child and thus loving one's own self).

Bella shows us a heroic man whose love and whose experience of a loving family can heal the wounds of women used for sex without love....the hope that a man who believes in the woman can in a sense give her a transfusion of hope in her life and her child's future.

Women can't naturally tend towards abortion. I firmly believe this holocaust will cease when a majority of men become Christian gentlemen, heroes again willing to sacrifice their lives to protect, provide and shelter the women and children within their lives.

If we were willing to lay down our lives so that women and children could live abortion would cease to be "a choice".

Gravatar It's a beautiful movie that shakes you to the core. Here's a web site to find where it plays by you, and what you can do to bring awareness to others.

God bless
