Hi. I want you to know that I read your blog all the time. I think this is the first time that I'm actually commenting. Keep up the good work, by the way!
In the almost 30 years since IVF was first done, tons of research and money have gone into the Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART), diverting much needed research and money AWAY from investigating the UNDERLYING causes of infertility. Shortly after I began infertility testing, my specialist was already pushing me into an IUI and I said "no" because I wanted to explore the UNDERLYING reasons for my inability to procreate. (Plus, I'm Catholic, so I had to put my foot down.)
So much time and money that could have been spent exploring the causes for endometriosis (and its cure) and progesterone deficiencies and Unexplained Infertility and annovulation have been lost because its been spent on research like this.
Unfortunately, I see so many women get shuttled off into these kinds of procedures, only to STILL come out empty-handed, because their underlying issues are still unresolved.
As far as the article goes, I can see a woman with cancer having the ovarian tissue put back in and then she would conceive naturally. That part I don't have a problem with and from all my reading on the Church's position, in that particular instance it would be alright. BUT the harvesting of ovums in-vitro and fertilization in-vitro are not alright.
