Gravatar Hallelujah!

Gravatar What a shame. The law probably would not save one baby. As vague as the law is. The ban on partial-birth abortion essentially contradicts itself. Why save certain babies and let others die? This law makes no sense.

Gravatar By the way, Justice Ginsberg has contracted HERSELF! She has gone on record in the past as saying Roe v Wade was a mistake because it unnecessarily politicized the abortion debate! Of course, our indolent and agenda driven reporters will NEVER dredge that quote up. Tom

Gravatar Ps, Freudian slip. I should have said she has contradicted (not contracted) herself. Tom

Gravatar Democracy cannot survive when innocent children are killed under the cover of law.

Gravatar This is a reason to celebrate and also reflect. This is a small step and one easily lost without continued effort.

Gravatar "This is a reason to celebrate and also reflect. This is a small step and one easily lost without continued effort." How can you claim the Republicans are just in killings innocent children selectively?

Gravatar Notice how the Catholic majority all took the side of life. I hope this is a sign of things to come

Gravatar Naturally, I am pleased. The opposite result, which we missed by ONE VOTE PEOPLE, would have been horrific. But what does the decision really say? That one may kill babies four ways, but not five? Gee, makes me wanna pop a champagne cork tonight. Or do I miss something here?

Gravatar PS: Thomas and Scalia's concurring is a must read! "The S. Ct.'s abortion jurisprudence HAS NO BASIS IN THE US CONSTITUTION." Gauntlet time, folks.

Gravatar Dr. Peters,

Its really disappointing that Thomas and Scalia had to say what they said in concurring opinions. This shows that Roberts and Alito, and also Kennedy, do not share that specific view. And that is bad. At least Robert and Alito should have joined that concurring opinion. The fact that they didnīt is disappointing.

Gravatar One small step in the right direction.
Now that we say "This is wrong" we need to apply it across the board.
A thin hope, but a start.

Gravatar Ed Peters,
You know what's interesting? People tell me that one type of abortion is stopped. They'll probably come up with excuses to defend the other types of abortion. The Democrats and Republicans are apologists for the pro-abortionists.

Gravatar What's interesting is that many Republicans will use this victory to distance themselves form the "radical" pro-lifers. Sorry to say, but it's the Republikkans that have distanced themselves from the real pro-lifers. Sorry I just refuse to call Republicans by their respective name. With this decision they deserve to be called Republikkans.

Gravatar Good thoughts....Prof. Basto, I didn't see the whole case, but my guess is the appellate history did not set up the Court to revisit Roe. Thus, S and T are really being delightfully "in your face" about telling the Court (and posterity, and God) that Roe is total legal balderdash. Seriously, no credible legal scholar defends Roe anymore. It's like Communism in the 80s. No one beleived it anymore. It just collapsed under its own weight.

Gravatar You all might not want to celebrate but I will take my happiness where I can get it. My plan is to celebrate with a beer or two (on the weekend, of course).

Gravatar By the time the Roman Empire legalized Christianity it was already too late. Had they done that earlier the Empire never would have fallen.
