Rather than spend so much time on the question of whether pro-abortion "Catholic" politicians have excommunicated themselves or should be denied Holy Communion when they approach the altar, Catholic bishops and media should tell Catholics that they are obliged to vote against the candidates of parties that support abortion, redefinition of marriage by the state, any form of euthanasia or scientific manipulation of human "embryos". For crying out loud, even the German bishops had the guts to stand up to Hitler during WWII on the life issue! They didn't waste time splitting hairs over whether he should be formally excommunicated or had already excommunicated himself.

Do these Dems have any idea how duplicitous and specious they sound when trying to defend their indefensible actions? What is this "primacy of conscience" crap? Is that like an "emanation or penumbra"? It emanates from somewhere, I tell you.
And how dare they call themselves "Catholic" while heaping approbation on the POPE whose statement is a call to ORTHODOX understanding! You cannot call yourself a Christian and hate Christ. Abortion mercilessly kills the least of us -- who were particularly singled out by Christ as examples of His image. These feebs oppose life BECAUSE they are Catholic and they care more about their precious liberal image than they do about Christ's image.
They deserve to be sacked and I am glad they decided to make such a public spectacle of their lunacy. Maybe this will drive it home to voters who have failed to research exactly what a "pro-life" Democrat means.
They should call themselves "The Gang of 18".

Makes you wonder just how many times these politicians can play with fire before they are cast into it.
It is interesting that this is nothing new, having just recently watched "A Man for All Seasons" and "Becket" recently. Those two stories are definitely appropriate for our times.
