You might want to amend your headline . . . using the phrase "keep your eye on" when discussing any Louisiana politician often connotes something rather negative . . .

Thom,
What, we weren't a reason to visit Louisiana? Now I feel hurt. :-(
LOL...There wasn't much chance anyone else would be elected, though it is amazing that Jindal avoided a run-off! He pretty much has a mandate, which he'll need if he really wants to clean up politics around here (he ran primarily on ethics reform). He picked up a lot of the cajun vote - people who usually only vote for you if your name ends with 'ieu', 'eaux', or some other cajun variant - and I can't help to think that this was a reaction against the anti-Catholic ads.
Let's pray that, unlike previous 'reform' governors, Jindal is able to make some headway into the morass that is Louisiana politics!

The good thing about Governor-elect Jindal is that he is young (only 36 I think). This means, if he governs well in LA, he could potentially be a very solid CAtholic presidential candidate in 8, 12 years.
