I lost my father to cancer when I was 18 and it forever changed me. A father is such an important figure to a woman. I still miss mine and he's been gone 30 years.

Thanks for sharing Redhead and sorry about your lost.
However, I always wondered if it was worst to have your father in your life and then he passes away, as oppose to having your father alive and knowing he doesn't give a hoot, or you have no clue where he is or he just doesn't want to be found.
For many women I know, the breathing father seem to generate more of a sad and angry buzz...

I completely agree with what you're saying--but don't sleep, I had a father in the home that traveled all the time while I was growing up and was not emotionally available to me. My parents have been married for 44 years, and it is only in the past 2 that I really felt he was involved. Black men have had it hard, all around. Just my 2 cents.
