I suspect a lot of paranormal phenomena are due to suggestion.
I once took a hypnosis course, and found a lot of REAL placebo effect is similar to that of hypnosis...ditto acupuncture.
Similarly, lots of "religious" events, UFO sightings, etc. are the subconscious in people with high suseptability to suggestion. We learned the "eye roll" test to quickly evaluate how easily a person can be hypnotized. Someone needs to do a similar screen on these type people.
