How is it possible that Bush learned of this deal "in the last several days", as the Yahoo article points out, when it was all over the internets a good week and a half ago?

Ugh - comments got erased again.

"This is just too weird. We dems have always believed that this was the most useless excuse for a president in the history of the nation, but now even the wingnuts are saying "WTF?"
The real question is, not if the preznit is going to bumble and bluster some more, or if he's going to line up some faux experts to trumpet his newly-discovered cause (of course he will) but whether the congress is getting enough of an earful from their constituents.
My sorry hometown paper, shill for the conservative voice since whenever, had a scathing editorial this morning, and said that if Bush insisted on defending this policy, he would "lose whatever credibility he has left."
whoa. I almost choked on my coffee.
This has some legs."
Then I said:
"Totally. Coincidentally, this issue was one of the key parts of Kerry's campaign - unchecked incoming containers at ports. If I heard him mention it once, I heard him mention it 1,000 times. He ought to be sticking his face in front of every camera he can find and reminding them what a difference a President Kerry would have actually meant for all of us."
Then CJ said:
"In the old comments I made a lame joke about no one in Washington D.C. being home... the more I thought about it, the more I realized it's no freaking joke.
The legacy of this administration... we didn't know, we couldn't have known, we couldn't have foreseen...
I admit to being pretty terrified by what the future has in store for us at this rate."
Then Anonymous said:
"What I dont understand is why arent ALL of the Repugs screaming about this!! MSNBC poll of over 50,000 people and 90 percent of them have a problem with the Dubai company controlling our ports!! Yet you only have a few Republican politicians saying anything!"
Then Mustang Bobby said:
"As I noted here, how does this not reinforce the impression that the president is a clueless twit?"

Sis, thanks for getting me out of the evil parallel universe!
Everybody go over to firedoglake and see what Scotty M. is saying. It's, it's, I don't even have words to describe it.
Surreal, maybe, like we all just landed in a David Lynch movie.

As to the question, "Who is running the show?"
America has been signed, sealed, and delivered to behemoth corporations. Those in control have no loyalty or allegiance to this country.....only to the power that the New World Order will bestow upon them.
This is not wild conspiracy territory inhabited by those of us sporting tinfoil hats. Remember Poppy Bush, among other elite powerbrokers, referring to it? The NWO is ready and waiting for the sheep/serfs. The nightmare that is the Bush administration is not going to end in 3 years.

Ever since Cheney was the guy issuing orders on 9/11 while Shrubby was being shunted around the country and hiding in Nebraska (or wherever the hell it was), I was sure W was nothing but the pitchman for a cabal.
Cheney and Rove are definitely right up there. Rummy is the insane attack dog in the living room, whom nobody can get rid of (he knows too much?). Condi is one of those scientists on a chain, like in Huxley's "Ape and Essence." Card, I don't think is even on the map. He just knows which side his bread is buttered on and does what he's told (see Condi, except that Card has a lower IQ, not that it makes any difference).
I'd wonder if I was being too harsh, but with this crew, ever time I wonder that, they exceed my expectations.

Why are more people (yes, you Republicans) not screaming at the top of their lungs about this? The man is worse than clueless, he's clearly NOT IN CHARGE. Just when I think there's nothing more to be outraged about...

If you really want to take your stress factor to a new level, and insure losing sleep, research the following:
~The Carlyle Group~
~Adam Weishaupt~
Get prepared for what is in store for all of us : one world government - no states, no religions, no private property, etc. It is known that G.H.W. Bush and son are deeply embedded in The Carlyle Group's sinister agenda.
And there is no outcry or exposure. Ask yourself "why?"

I guess we DO now have a king. Great Britain style: one symbolic figurehead, and then the people who get things done.
Damn.

The president wants this deal to go forward because it was followed by the book and he wants Congress to understand that
But it's already been reported that this is simply false. It's already been reported that such a deal is supposed to be vetted during a 45 day procedure, and they only vetted it for 20-some days.
