"What's up?" is one thing that always got on (and still gets on) my nerves. I don't see what's wrong with "Hello," or "Hi," as both are easier to say and, in my opinion, more appropriate.

Last year I did answer truthfully a few times -- "The sky," "The ceiling," and "Someday, the stock market," were some of the answers I used. That turned out to be a bad idea, unless you want to become the quintessence of insanity. Of course, I don't have very far to go to reach that level...
