For some reason I'm rather averse to sequels and remakes of media that, more or less, had been killed off either officially or by the passage of time. Personally I enjoyed the first The Matrix and the original Star Wars Trilogy compared to Reloaded/Revolutions and the prequels, since the latter more or less didn't manage to capture the thrill that the originals gave.

If anything, I think a lot of times sequels, revivals, and the like generally serve as a producer's easy way out of crafting an original idea. Some of them aren't that bad, but seldom if ever are they as good as the original.
I agree with the assessment about Star Wars: The "prequels" were disappointing. I saw the original 1977 movie a few weeks ago, and it seemed a far fresher and more engaging film.

As far as educational purpose goes, I would like to see a revived Electric Company that's geared toward ESL and/or ESD kids as much as it is towards kids who have English as a first language but who have lacked opportunities early in life to become comfortable with reading.
I'm not as versed in language acquisition as I'd like to be to know if there would have to be a different approach than the phonics-heavy based one used in the original EC, but I would think that whole-word recognition would come more into play.

That's an interesting way of looking at things, C. The details of educational methods and show structure remain to be seen.
