T-shirts, buttons, bumper stickers and the like, all saying "Free Judith" in a typewriter key like design. While she's screwed up a lot of stories, she stuck to her guns here (even though she looks like she's protecting Karl Rove).

Sounds like Fascism: "suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship...Oppressive, dictatorial control". Americans are censoring the press, the CIA has been given a green light to tap US citizens, the FBI and other police agencies can now conduct "sneak and peak" searches of people's homes and offices, and a new definition of "domestic terrorism" is broad enough to include political protests. Rights of individuals of Middle Eastern descent and of immigrants and racial minorities generally are being severely curtailed. Under the rubric of the "War on Terror," the United States has detained thousands of people in the US and around the world. Many are being held without charge or trial in violation of fundamental due process rights. This is in great contradiction to the "free America" concept. Why vote for this guy? Why vote dictatorship?

Fuck Judy Miller. She writes more fiction than Jayson Blair, and whereas his fiction consisted of telling his readers he actually was at a hot dog eating contest in Birmingham, Alabama when he was really in his hotel room, her fiction has helped get people killed in an unnecessary job. And she still has a job. If Jayson Blair violated the public trust by fudging his dateline, why in the goddamn hell is the New York Times still letting her write for them?
Then, she aids in the commission of a crime involving national security by protecting a thug hiding behind the first amendment. There is nothing admirable or noble in her actions in this case.
The New York Times writes in an editorial "She is defending the right of Americans to get vital information from news organizations that need not fear government retaliation."
No, she is defending Karl Rove's right to put people in danger and ruin their careers for correctly pointing out that the case for war in Iraq is a big steaming pile of bullshit. She is not protecting a whisteblower coming forward to serve the public interest from government retaliation; she is protecting a thug whose business is to use his position in the government to retaliate in the most despicable way against people who come forward with information that serves the public interest.
Fuck her.

Judith Miller wouldnt even be protected by the Federal Shield law she is peddling in front of Congress because there would be a national security exception.
Those of you who think Judy Miller is a cause celeb for the First Amendment, need to review the facts of this case. Seriously.
