1. The idea that GW Bush is a revolutionary following in the noble footsteps of Marx, Engels, Lenin and Trotsky.
2. "The concept of universal human rights now forms the guiding principle of U.S. foreign policy."
3. The suggestion that GW Bush is to be commended for espousing "universal and international values" which prompt his "various appeals in favor of the war on terror, including the attack on Iraq." In other words, bring on Iran!
4. His praise for Christopher Hitchens for cuddling up to G.W.Bush because Hitchens, fancying himself as a "revolutionary", had waxed eloquent over Bush's plan for "regime change" whenever and wherever Bush pleased...because what could be "revolutionary" than toppling governments you disapproved of?

BTW, I wonder if you have ever found yourself in a social situation (e.g. at a dinner party) where you have been accused of anti-Semitism? And if so, how you manage to handle the ticklish situation.

I actually decoded Ken's point, but it is a rather small and insignificant point.
It ignores the larger context, namely, what triggers suspicion is not the fact that Bass and Davis happen to be popular transliterations of some yiddish name-root but that the subject of the book is so typically jewish that the authors' names and surnames reinforce the impression.

as for shlomo's point about Chomsky, namely that he at one point stated that he will be the last standing defender of Israel after everyone else has deserted it, I too remember being struck by it long ago.
The fact that it can no longer be easily sourced doesn't mean anything given how the news are scrubbed on a daily basis (see my response to Irma Kleckstein re. potential identity of Jack The Ripper - going, going, out of print/error 404).
My gut feeling is that Chomsky is a gatekeeper, probably the finest and the subtlest they've got, not because of that particular quote but because of cumulative thrust of everything I've read by him.

Xeno, my definition of gullible is simpler and more excusable than yours, along the lines of people who seldom feel the need to question anything handed down from an authoritative source (if they don't see it as immediately or personally threatening). "Most People" are content to lead small, strife-free lives and are happy to avoid 'making waves' in the interests of peace and good citizenship.
One imagines that they begin to awaken when they realise that sticking to the rules of good citizenship wasn't enough to preserve their job, or some other receding aspect of personal happiness, and resentment begins to kick in.

Rose is a professor emeritus of neurobiology at the Open University, a sort of British 1960s lefty version of the University of Phoenix. Evaluating this, the English daily, afraid to be sued for libeling by Rose, did not publish anything.
"After my publication, Rose had published in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung a note in which he declared that he never was involved in activities against East German scientists. My name and my publication was not explicitly mentioned, and I had never personal contact with Rose. He tried never to be active in any direct way against me and never mentioned or cited me.”

In Oz, most recently on 60 Minutes this evening, the sub-prime crisis has been depicted as blatant, pre-meditated and collusive fraud. (That should calm things down a bit!)
Late last year, Alan Kohler, ABC TV's financial commenter, laid the lion's share of the blame at the feet of those illustrious 'credit-rating' agencies Moody's and Standard & Poor's, pointing out that both made bumper profits in commissions from giving inflated 'ratings' to $100s of billions in investments of questionable worth.
The ratings were so 'good' that a lot of superannuation funds in Oz, and presumably elsewhere, snapped them up. So fraud is putting it mildly. Generally, in 07/08 super funds in Oz have gone backwards, in spite of a 'booming' economy.
Kohler's take on it back then was that it could be many months before the full extent of the problem was known because the industry was too scared to closely examine their suspect portfolios. And if this refusal to bite the bullet prevailed then it could only make matters worse.
And the Left, when cornered with scientifically proven racial IQ differences, finally says, well what good is it to point these differences out? I'll tell you why, because these same pc tools are the ones claiming minority failure to compete in the West is based on overt or "institutional" white racism, not inferior DNA.

There was a story on the news a couple of moons ago of a super fund manager who almost lost his job for refusing to take up the offer of a bundle of SIVs. His argument with the promoters was that he could end up doing time in the slammer if he invested in any product which didn't come with a certain minimum standard of documentation and a verifiable 'trail' of some sort. The pressure involved promises that there was 'nothing to worry about' and his reply was to the effect that his hands were tied until the docs were in his possession. They never materialised. Then, after the s-p crisis became public knowledge, someone tried to ping him for failure to whistleblow, but he got out of that by pointing out that he was just a glorified clerk and much smarter bears than he fell for the 'fabulous opportunity' story hook line and sinker (and 'commission', presumably).

There are two issues here. One is the question of different abilities among different groups. While of scientific interest, this should have no public policy impact in a polity recognizing the equal rights of its members. As you imply, achievement and failure should be allowed commensurate reward and punishment, within the limits a humane polity sets for itself.
The other issue is the willingness of certain individuals to band together in groups against the common good of the polity. Regardless of the abilities of members such groups, such "communitairisme," as the French call it, is a conspiracy against the republic.

If I understand your original point, you are saying that people on this blog are illogical. They dismiss Africans because of low IQ, while at the same time refuse to acknowledge that (Ashkenazi) Jews have high IQs.
First, I would like to say that your basic premise about IQ is correct. On a distribution where the European mean IQ = 100, the American black is a full standard deviation lower (mean = 85), and the Ashkenazi Jew a full standard deviation higher (mean = 115).
But then, immediately I say: even assuming your point is correct, so what?
My problem with the Jews is deeper than IQ.
They have captured power in Washington, and now are using their power to set the government on path that is immensely destructive. Because they cannot openly state their agenda, they proceed by deceit, dishonesty, hypocrisy, corruption, and very likely, murder (e.g.: the strange events of 9/11).
Until Washington is re-captured from the Jews, nothing can be done, no problem can be fixed, and no outcome can be expected other than shipwreck.
I don’t know how to say it any more forcefully than by the following comment: re-capture of Washington from the Jews is important enough to justify an appeal to arms.

My thinking on the subject goes like this - what do we mean by "intelligent" nowadays? Someone who does well on IQ test, thereby putting the cart ahead of the horse, a standard practice among people who wear the designer label facing out.
But to me, it doesn't measure anything of value, I have spent enough time in academia (escaped relatively unscathed, I hope) not to be in any awe of "brilliant" students.
All they are good at is picking up information rapidly and in an organized way, provided it is fed to them along some standard groove.
A creative person is generally a lousy student, too impatient and unwilling to submit to the tyranny of the guild.

I find this strange, Laurie, as US Taxes has already commented on the 3 comments posted after the poem in response to it. He said he thought the first 2 comments were "made-up" (whatever that means), implying that the third comment was "genuine".

An interesting controversy to which I should like to contribute.
Lobro backs up Shlomo to the effect that the remark was made and that he remembers it well. "Anonymous" questions the authenticity of the comment because he thinks it is so controversial that it would have been seized upon by Chomsky's critics and cited forever against him thereafter.
My fortuitous finding: the comment was definitely made, but it was not at all controversial. It is only controversial if quoted out of context. Within the context in which it was made, the remark was uncontroversial and does not necessarily prove that Chomsky is a gatekeeper.
In other words, Shlomo and Lobro are right that the comment was made; but Ken Hoop will find consolation in the fact that the comment has been wrested from its context and is uncontroversial in its original context. 1. If Chomsky is a gatekeeper, Finkelstein must be one too — because Finkelstein backs Chomsky's comment to the hilt and says, in effect: "So what if Chomsky said this? It's no big deal. What person in his right mind is going to support THE VIOLENT DESTRUCTION OF A STATE?"

Having read your comments here, I must tell you that I am less well-disposed to Chomsky than I used to be. It's just that I have always moved in circles where no one ever criticized Chomsky.
I remember once pointing out to an older colleague that one had to be wary about accepting everything Chomsky said. "Who are you to question Chomsky?" he sneered.

I think what you say is absolutely correct. We know for a fact that Israeli "advisors" have cropped up all over Iraq. They were to be found in large numbers at Abu Ghraib prison, advising the Americans on sophisticated modes of torture and egging them on to ever more fiendish methods of tormenting the innocent. Sexual humiliation is a textbook Jewish torture, practised in all Israeli prisons where Palestinians are kept captive, and it is no coincidence that this practice was later to make its way to Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay.
So yes, the people laying the bombs in Iraqi marketplaces are without doubt Mossad agents.
This does not mean, of course, that Xenophile is wrong. But he is wrong to the extent that he suggests ALL these incidents are the result of sectarian conflict between Sunni and Shia factions.

Well stevieb, you've certainly come a long way since then. There's always a moment when one knows nothing...and suddenly a book comes along to change your life. Chomsky did that for you.
The book that did it for me was "Publish It Not" (Mayhew & Adams), a book about the Arab-Israeli conflict containing "unpublishable" facts. I came across the book in my public library.
Having read the book and being utterly poleaxed by its revelations, I at once shot off a long letter to my local newspaper which, to my surprise, they actually published. A week later, a Dr Jacob Gerwirtz from the Board of Deputies of British Jews penned an angry rebuttal in the same paper, accusing me of spreading "anti-Semitic canards" and virtually suggesting I ought to receive medical attention.
This incident led to my ostracization in the small community where I lived at the time, turning me into a confirmed anti-Zionist.
Another by-product of the incident was that the book, which I had quoted at length in my newspaper letter, suddenly disappeared from the library shelves. I wonder why.

1st, i will admit i am only guessing. i know very little re before chaos tension among sunni and shia.
i think though they got along well. many communities were mixed. they intermarried. worked well together. i knew several sunni and shia iraqis from my visits after the ist gulf war. they had to leave iraq and were all living together in an apt complex. after work each evening and days off they would gather in a common area and socialize. very pleasant and considerate. absolutely no tension that i could discern.

4. Permanent American/Israeli bases sprinkled all over the former Iraq in order to indimidate Iran, Russia, the Caspian Sea countries, and China.
All these desirable outcomes will be facilitated by the fragmentation of Iraq into three weaker mini-states — hence the need for fomenting civil war in the country.

So you can't see the 'civil war' as a media illusion? If one takes Palestine as the exemplar of Western imperial dreams then one is obliged to admit that if the UK/US/Zios had already decided to split Iraq into 3 statelets before the 2003 illegal invasion then they probably (still) think that all they need to do is sell a 'civil war' to Joe Public thru their lying media to 'mute' his and her protests.

Beirut's neighborhoods were divided along religious lines long before the first Izzy invasion. And why did the Ottomans need to rule with a heavy hand if all got along hunckey dorrey? The reason they got along was that politically they stayed out of each others way. The U.S. is definitely fanning the cinders, but the cinders were there to be fanned. Of course Shia and Sunni can be friends on a personal level. So could Catholics and Protestants in Ireland, but on a political level there was tension.

The short version of this post is that it is We The People who are being divided in order that we may be ruled. Demockrisy demands that as a minimum standard. But try forcing a 'democratic' Government to put one of its mock wars to a 'democratic' vote. It'd be a disaster - the people would vote NO!

Your argument taken literally falls in on itself, for if Mossad agents are pervasively training US forces, they need not take personal chances on bomb laying, which can be assigned to US troops. As Iraqis assume a high percentage of US troops are Jews, there is really no practical need for hyper-conspiracy theories, which is why Iraqis, both Sunni and Shia, do not specifically accuse the Mossad of your specified acts.
