Vladimir Putin wins the other Nobel Prize

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian president Vladimir Putin has won a Nobel prize. Not the better-known Nobel Peace Prize handed out by the Oslo-based committee to luminaries such as last Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev or ex-South African President Nelson Mandela.
Instead, Putin has won the Ludvig Nobel Prize for services to Russia — an award organized by Russian businessmen and artists which, apart from shared historical roots, has no connection to today's Nobel Peace Prize.
"Under the previous president, (Boris) Yeltsin, there was chaos and lawlessness," Yevgeny Lukoshkov, who heads the Ludvig Nobel Prize's selection committee, told Reuters.
"Somebody had to stand up and take responsibility and stop the robberies and murders. Putin took responsibility for eight years."
Putin, 55, leaves office next month after eight years in which he has become Russia's most popular politician.
Most Russians credit him with overseeing the longest economic boom in a generation, creating political stability and restoring the country's standing on the world stage. A minority accuse Putin of trampling on democratic freedoms.
"He was very pleased to win," Lukoshkov said. "But he couldn't make it to the ceremony. I don't know why."
Ludvig Nobel, who lived mainly in St Petersburg and became a Russian citizen, was older brother of Alfred Nobel — founder of the Nobel Prizes for physics, chemistry, medicine and literature in Stockholm and the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo.
Like his brother, Ludvig made huge profits in the 19th century by extracting oil from the coastline around the Azeri capital Baku. He is also credited with inventing the oil tanker.
In 1888, seven years after Ludvig Nobel's death the Imperial Russian Technology Society established the Ludvig Nobel prize — an act which some historians say inspired Alfred Nobel to establish his own prizes in his will nearly ten years later.
The 1917 Bolshevik revolution ended the Ludvig Nobel prize but four years ago Lukoshkov and others decided to reinstate it.
"It's a prize for well-known people who have personally worked in their lives to make Russia a better place," he said.
Unlike the Nobel Peace Prize, which comes with a fat check, there is no cash award for the Ludvig Nobel prize.
"We decided that you can't measure everything with money," Lukoshkov said.

Let's hope the fact erstwhile national talk show host Mike McConnell is "local" again translates to "less national." Hey, we always try to see the glass as half-full.
Today, he whored for Israel again. Asked by a naieve listener why
America supported Israel he had several answers, most of them wrong.
After admitting the Israeli Lobby was indeed the most powerful
lobby in America, he chided the Arabs lack of skill in forming one.
Then he propagandized for Jewish racism in a manner which the
sadly uninformed American could only deduce as "why should the
Arabs bother?"
After all, McConnell lied, Israel is a loyal ally, a "democracy" and a fine example for every Arab and Moslem nation in the region to emulate!

The RNDC chairman Frank Donatelli suggested it. McCain certainly wouldn't have to worry about getting knock-off with her being next in line.

I find it hard to meaningfully comment on any US election after the astonishing one of 2000. In plain view of the entire world, the most powerful nation the world has ever seen elected a president whose brother was the governor of the state that had the deciding recount. The media sidetracked the public with nonsense about "chads" while thousands were disenfranchised by a private company with links to the Repulicans. Shortly after the election America suffered a baffling and unlikely attack, one in which apparently it's entire air defence network was out to lunch.
A bloodless coup took place in 2000, and since then all has been theatre and we have have been quietly at war with fascists, those few of us who know the truth. This war has only just begun, and their next big move may come after they have ditched the burnt out Bush creature for McCain.
America and the world is in very deep trouble, and unless more people take an interest, turn of their media propaganda and learn the truth, millions are going to die in the years ahead, Muslims, Christians and even a few Jews who don't get the nod from odigo-esque messaging services out of Tel Aviv.

this is the main battle tactic THEY are using. Not just in america but in europe, uk, france, germany, lebenon, georgia, belorus etc -
A) - get a candidate within 5% or so, not really too much of a problem if you have lots of money and media, use many different, including high-tech, voter fraud tactics to tip your candidate an extra 10% or so.
B) - Arrange your own Opinion Polls before and during the election to show the fraudulent swing in order to prepare the public for your candidate's 'win' and in order to 'explain' those normally oh so reliable exit polls
C) - take up power immediately and walk off laughing, dismissing or ignoring any protests, complaints, queries or questions
simple and effective
Now they are going to rape and kill us - unless they are stopped.
