So it's not that Singaporeans are not trend starters, it's just that many of us only "acknowledge" that after popular brands like what you mentioned here "New urban Male brought in the Havaianas" then flip flops are acceptable now. :D Many of us have been wearing flip flops since young! :D

I personally don't think that dressing up well is important when going to Orchard Road.
It's only Orchard Road, not a wedding banquet, party, event, meetings, or any function etc.
Most importantly, it's whether the clothes people are wearing out suit them or not. If flip flops, a polo tee, and nice pants suits them, that's great enough for a normal, casual day of shopping at Orchard Road.
What's more important is the person's character, looks and appearance, not his/her clothing.
