A lot of things to comment on here. First, you are NOT a dork! Or, if you are, then so am I. I get all giddy too when I meet someone I like and think might be good friend material.
Also, you are definitely on to something with the parents of the troublesome child feeling so awful. I know the parents of the biter at my son's nursery school were horrified. The mother was so embarassed she had her husband talk to me about it. Or maybe she was afraid I'd beat her up. Either way, I would have felt so much worse on her side of things.
Ok -- gotta watch the Julia Louis-Dreyfuss show, just based on your quick review! That's a riot! I love that kind of comedy.

You are definately not a dork! I was the same way. We had just moved and I hadn't had adult companionship so when I did I am sure the poor other women thought I was going to stalk them or something.
Oh, and the whole it being "your turn" at some point to have the "bad" kid. That would be my #3. He's the kid that when people ask me "Oh, are you David's mom?" I usually respond with "why?"
Friendships with other Moms can literally save your sanity. Hurray for you!

And this is so odd, I've got the whole belief/difference of belief thing on my mind, too. And it didn't really make it into today's post, but I've been wanting also to post something along the lines of your most recent, about feeling so odd with people who are really conservative and then realizing that I'm doing the thing I hate...oy.
