Gravatar Queen Anne's Lace looks great in that last picture.

There's nothing wrong with having most of the suitcase be books; I think that's by far the best way to pack. I can even remember when I was small enough that the bag of books I had for a trip much shorter than this was probably about the same size as I was.

The Cathedral School stuff sounds really interesting.

Gravatar Cambridge and Kew far too much wonder I'd say. Rained here this morning but think you might have had fine weather hope so, though maybe it's better if it is grey and overcast when you are going through archives. As to packing well maybe you should have read this site http://sistersonsojourn.com/Pack...king% 20Tips.htm
This is a hilarious intro/preparation for international travel which I suspect like me you'll recognise things familiar.
Have you met/found the Mock Duck yet!

Gravatar Hi,I used to live in Cambridge, before I moved to London. Try going to CB1,32 Mill Road or CB2,Norfolk Street for internet access They are really friendly there. I believe CB1 was the first ever internet cafe in the UK, so they really know what's what there. Also while you're in Cambridge check out Robert Sayle's for knitting yarn.

Gravatar Ah, the pack heavy books, read them, send them home, thereby freeing up space for YARN trick.
I've done it myself, and the much lighter suitcase makes one feel almost virtuous.

Gravatar glad you got there safely. I love hearing about your packing issues since I will soon be facing such myself! Knowing that your suitcase had Proust and Cervantes I won't feel nearly as bad about packing the recent translation of Anna K. I've been meaning to read. My variation on the book theme is pack them, read them, leave them in the remote hostel for some other English speaker who finds herself at the back of beyond in need of a few words in a familiar tongue. Thus making room for textiles, yarn, etc.

Gravatar it's really cool that we get to read about your england trip.

--your extraordinarily intellectual colleague

Gravatar Enjoy Kew/Richmond - it's one of our fav places in the world. (Go Welsh!)

Gravatar That happened to me in Italy--at least in England, you can make yourself understood. Try it with your 10-word Italian vocabulary, and get ready to be a true embarrassment to your people.
