Gravatar See, now wasn't it a good thing that you already had the fen description right there at your blogfingertips?

Gawd, I adore your writing.

Gravatar I hope that the paper went well. Congratulations on making it through yesterday; that first paper sounds really difficult, and you definitely deserve the Oscar.

At the last Classics conference I went to, people tried to do the Zorba the Greek dance, and I think some others tried to do reconstructions of ancient dances. Do Medievalists do morris dancing or anything of the like?

Gravatar Ah, so the Fen Entertainers were kind of like the chit'lin' circuit in 1940s-50s America? Or, perhaps, a bit like the Borscht Belt, except many of those comedians went on to larger popularity.

I've given the last paper of the session at meetings before. It's not pretty, unless you're the sort who prefers a nonexistant audience.

Gravatar I'm with Rachael - I look forward to your blog every day -

Study on ... .

Gravatar Drat. Now "fen" has become one of those words that sounds weird and has lost all meaning because I've read it too many times, although when I started reading your entry "fen" and I had perfectly good relationship.

Gravatar Wish I could be there for those papers. Someday, when I come through Pittsburgh (hasn't happened yet, but odds are I'll hit it at some point, right?), I'll hunt you up and we can have a wonderful academic-type chat about this sort of thing.
