Perfectement! My children think they are called Hush Puppies because when the animals hear and smell the activity in the kitchen (mine is INDOORS, thank the Good Lord) they come sniffin' around...whereupon Smart Children hide the delicasies (usually in their MOUTHS) and say to each other....hush, PUPPIES!
The Big Question is of course....will That Dog Hunt?
giggle. I'm off to church, where surely that very subject will be discussed ( along with what was bitin at the crick this mornin) in the parking lot afore or after The Service....Then to the local K&W cafeteria where I shall indulge in deep fried breaded bits and raise a glass to you...carry on!

Hush puppies - oh my! I had them Friday for the first time in 25 years or so, since I left Missouri and came back to New England. They were wonderful! I didn't realize that I'd missed them

Corruption of what French phrase, though, one wonders? "Hache poupée", perhaps? Which translates to "doll axe" so I'm not sure what the connection wold be, but it sounds right. Hmm. We have the makings of an urban legend in here somewhere...
