Gravatar Since we live on the second floor, my knitting was safe and dry (since we're also at the top of the hill). I feel terrible about the people down the hill from us, however, whose knitting apparently was not saved, and neither were their entire living room sets, which are now muddy and on the curb.

But it's good to have adventure stories, particularly when one lives through them.

I came to Pgh. with the agreement that it would have no forest fires while I'm here. I guess I should have asked about the floods.

Gravatar I can't help but be a little (only a very little, because I'm not stupid) sorry that by the time the hurricanes get to us they can hardly even be dignified with the name "storm" -- I think they're usually "depressions". But I am always very thankful that our severe weather is limited to lots of snow, which is actually rather easy to endure (holing up in the house knitting usually gets me through, for instance). I'm so glad to hear you weren't too badly affected, and of course very relieved that the knitting is safe. It's always best to be barely touched by adventure, enough to tell stories about, not enough that you never want to remember it.

Gravatar glad you/yours weathered the storm okay. even my friend in mobile (AL)managed to make through unscathed (he doesn't knit). was listening to my favorite new CD of madrigals and thought of you (knitting of course), xoxo, _dbs_

Gravatar Glad you needed a wet/dry vac as opposed to, say, a full bucket brigade...

Gravatar Oh, thank goodness! v. glad you're okay, too.
