As I fan of Olde and Middle English ... THANK YOU!!! I love that poem, and reading it in Middle English made it that much better.
Now, if only I could fully pronounce ME ...

Honestly, the only way I can read it is to say it aloud; the my ears can tell me what the word is far more accurately than my eyes can puzzle out the visual patterns of the letter groups.
I hang my head in shame. I am an MA in English Lit and I still have to read my ME and OE aloud.
Then again, I think my subconscious also insists on me reading it aloud just because I love the sounds. They're so melodic. (Probably also the reason I began to teach myself Old Norse: I love the sound patterns.)

Thank you...so in clicking on the site for the lovely song I found...

Hmm. How many of us are guilty, I wonder?
So I have been searching for the lyrics of another lovely song that slams the empire--this time of Scotish descent, I believe. It was the last song each night (by "passionate" Scots) at The Scotsman's Lounge in Edinbugh. Since it was last I was of no state to remember it the next morning. The refrain ends... "And send them homeword / To think again." Lovely song I tell you...can anyone help?
