Gravatar Matt keeps a bunch of e-books on his PDA. Very handy, lightweight, backlit screen, variable font size... I imagine you could do the same w/a laptop, though the battery life probably isn't as good.

Gravatar I want to know about these trashy books you keep leaving on planes. Are they murder mysteries, regency romance novels--what?? Personally, I love to read not-so-great literature once in a while. I've even been known to keep some of it.

Gravatar Anyone going to England should bring along one of P.D. James' novels, although they are so well written it would be difficult to leave on board. Anyhow, thanks to all of you from thousands of flight crews who scavenge the reading material you leave on board. You'd be surprised at the number of pilots who hadn't bought a paper during a 30 year career.

Gravatar One of my souvenirs from Paris is a pair of washcloths, since I was surprised to find that our hotel room didn't have any. And I had a few experiences of yanking a giant wheeled suitcase up and downstairs into metro stations.

Gravatar About that carved hand... Maybe the house is older than 1790. The custom dates to prehistory:

Or it could point to an unmarked grave:

Or maybe it's a Pennsylvania Dutch thing.

It sort of looks like a manicule, what with the cuff:

Gravatar I do love the idea of books you're ashamed to tell us you read. I have no shame; I think you should follow my good example.

Gravatar Got your 'comment' just sent you email but then thought you might not be able to pick up. So thought to 'comment' here. Will be in Northampton Thursday around 8pm just up the road from your lodging place. Will ring. Supper or Breakfast or both??!!!
