Gravatar Wow, that same thing recently happened to us & our ancient cat. Same thing - even the depression. So the crisis is over, but it made me seriously realize that we'd need a plan for, um, disposal (?) eventually. Not having a permanent yard & being absolutely in love with this little beast I needed to find a good solution. We found a crematorium for pets in the north hills that's quite affordable & did you know that Costco sells urns? Well I don't actually shop at Costco, but I was surprised nonetheless. Oh & caskets. They sell caskets too... for people.

Anyway, the vet's advice about feeding sounds like it came from some sort of Zogby cat polling, but sounds not too bad to me.

"Good afternoon, Ms. Poots-pie is it? Yes, this is Marsha from the Zobgy Feline Polling Service & I'd like to talk to you about your dining selection satisfaction..."

Glad to hear Maggie's better.

Gravatar Glad to hear your cat is doing well and sorry for the lack of site visibility. My host is changing servers on me and I got stuck with a rather sudden, unexpected "you'll have to copy all your files and reinstall everything on a new system" which means that I am going to have to totally rebuild my blog.

*sigh*

It's just one darned thing after another!

Gravatar Oh, congratulations on Maggie's good news! My Max suddenly died on me while I was pregnant -- out of nowhere he got sick, and that very evening, the vet had to tell me there was nothing they could do. I'm so glad Maggie just had an infection and is feeling all better! (I like Jet's explanation about the wet food, though.)

Gravatar You have my sympathy for that fog of depression -- the vet thought our big orange Gulliver-Cat was suffering from the same thing a couple of days ago, which, as you say, forced us to think about the dread decision of When Do We Draw The Line At Paying Exhorbitant Vet Fees, and working through the crisis of I Love My Fifteen Year Old Cat But, which always makes me feel like a bad mother.

Our vet told us to feed him exclusively wet cat food too. Something about more moisture, more water, easier on the kidneys. Needless to say the vet has no idea that we have other cats who eat like sharks, and Gully would never see his wet cat food for all the other warm bodies crowing in front of him to wolf down the moussy goodness.

Hurrah for Maggie the Cat! (And Lila too, so she doesn't feel left out.)

Gravatar Another story about a sick cat: my cat was recently the victim of accidental poisoning (bad reaction to a topical flea remedy) and I thought my poor wittle kitty was going to perish...thankfully, we took the proper steps and she's fine now...but the Hartz company got a very nasty letter and a request that they pay the vet bill.
