This is so easy. Make yourself and the Avon lady happy by selling her stuff on eBay for her and putting the money in a savings account. If she later shows up, then give her the loot. Otherwise, donate the money to charity (the YMCA?) after some respectable period.

I fell off the chair laughing ... looking for a piece of paper that said "not click" on it. THAT is the cutest and funniest story. Give the little guy a hug for me, out of sheer adorable-ness.
I say sell them ... I like the bank account idea. Porceline crap in the attic is no fun ... Let someone else clutter their home.

One thing is certain -- your crack dialogue-writing skills will come in very handy for that bodice-ripper you are going to write. (Maybe you could fund the first edition with the proceeds from Avon trinket sales.)
As for the rights to the Avon monies: as someone who is paying to store my grandmother's furniture in a storage locker, my feeling is that after one has stored objects for a number of years, one is oneself entitled to whatever monies sale of the said objects may bring in. Not all my family members share this feeling, however.

I agree with Anne (or was that just you...) about your crack dialogue skills.
Speaking of skills, message-taking is one that is extremely under-appreciated. At least dad didn't go on the computer...

Are the awards ceremony people the same ones who previously rewarded the child with candy for knowing the definition of "hemisphere"? If so, the irony is perhaps deeper, or different, than you first imagined.
Also, I say yay to the profiteering. I only wish my mom, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law can benefit from the many bridal registry items and play costumes I stashed in their attics nearly a decade ago. Or one day they may insist that I claim my stuff since I don't live at the YMCA...yet.
