Gravatar Oh SWEETIE! I see that my terrible driving luck has rubbed off on someone. I do hope that it didn't cost The Writing Arm and Both Legs, and hopefully you will back running (in something) soon enough.

I'm glad you didn't have a bad experience. Did your tow truck driver have both legs? Mine didn't, and wasn't very cheerful.

Gravatar Glad to hear that you made it back safely! Scary bad noises on the turnpike are absolutely terrifying. I had a blowout near Downingtown last August and it was just past a place where there'd been no shoulder for 17 miles. A nice boy from Lancaster Bible College stopped and changed my tire for me, and then the tollperson at the next exit told me where to find a Pep Boys, and I got myself all fixed up. But still, very glad you're okay.

Gravatar Poor you! I have never seen a turnpike, but it sounds like a particularly bad sort of place to break down on. I did want to share with you my experience in driving an ancient Subaru with a rebuilt engine -- it gives it a whole new life. It's practically like having a reincarnated fresh new Subaru. I had to take a second job in a book warehouse for three weeks to pay for it, and even so, it was worth it.

Gravatar What an adventure! Or wait - maybe it was an "aventure"? Your definition - "an aventure is special, the chance that will not come again, the thing that makes no sense but must be embarked on anyway, or there's no story."

(See, I was paying attention when you wrote about that before!)

Glad you made it back safely. Ever consider a Toyota? We have a '95 Camry, 130K miles, husband treats it like hell, it purrs like a kitten.

Gravatar Some of the nicest people I have ever met have been tow truck drivers. I am sure there are some awful ones out there, borderline spawns of Satan, but I have never met them.

Gravatar Glad to hear you made it back safely! Bad car karma on the turnpike is enough to make you forgo driving forever. Yike - I'd still be screaming

But I agree with Ryan - I've met a couple of veritable princes who were masquerading as tow truck drivers.

Gravatar My only tow truck experience of recent memory happened to be during a Steelers' game.

No, in fact, I did not want to wait until after the game was over for him to come and help me--even if I was in a safe place at the time.

But it's hard to be sweet and charming when you're missing the Steelers, I guess.

Gravatar I did indeed cry bitter salt tears upon learning that class was cancelled!!!
I am glad that you are back safely and not cancelling classes
