Our new kitten, Fran, welcomes your two new kittens, even though she is only a feral little thing, with no papers to her name. Papers aside, they have the hiding thing in common.

Once, I had a boy who told me that his girlfriends grandfather had died, but she could not drive home by herself because she had vertigo. What could I say?
This in the same semester with the boy who was afraid to leave his room and the boy whose girlfriend was pressing charges that might get him deported. The class was on "recent violence" and I think I got some very edgy types . . .
i have been burning popcorn intentionally for DECADES now, until it is just carbon, because i LIKE to eat it that way. my mother told me i would get stomach cancer and i guess i still might. but i really LOVE it like that. i particularly like taking it right out of the pot and sticking a piece to my tongue to hear the sizzle. i have ruined more than one real nice le creuset pot this way.
it is ridiculous and unfair that you have two kittens and can't find a way to show them off... use flickr maybe!

That one is pretty spectacular. My own favorite was received on voice mail, it went something like: "Professor, I won't be in class today due to the heart palpitations I am suffering over anxiety of an exam I have in another course." By all means, she was excused from class, but I did consider calling her doctor.
More than once now I have wished I was a student in a class of yours. Literature appeals to me much more than the synthesis of oligosaccharides at the moment. (There's also the whole attending a different university and only being a part time student thing.)
I had a medieval history prof who was so interesting that I would have sat in on his lectures purely for the entertainment value. You don't hear people say that about chemistry.
I use Typepad and like it enough to forgo researching anything else at the moment. Looking forward to image representations of The Cutest Damn(ed?) Cats. Will the child Save them?

btw, kittens are my favorite. strange as it may be, kitten imagery pops up in my poetry quite a bit, but not in the cute fuzzy way. i will spare you the details. in real life, i like them cute and fuzzy and silly. someday, i may show up at your house and play with kittens, much like i'm going to show up at laura engels house and steal henry away.
I must learn the details of the "Touching Narratives" policy; I would have loved to have gotten one from the student who attended my class today with a pulverized face and broken arm.
As for kitties: you know I was so jealous that I rushed to the Humane Society and adopted one. We've witnessed no hiding beneath beds thus far. Either our kitty loves my kids unconditionally or does not have enough life experience to recognize impending peril. I still hope we get pictures of your new beauties and narratives, touching or otherwise, about their names.
All three of my knittens have stoically endured being mauled by four littlegirls on a regular basis for the last two weeks. No hiding has occurred, however the occasional twitch is becoming apparent.
I read the popcorn story to my husband and we both laughed ourselves silly. Thank you.
So many kittens. I must close this window quickly or I will end up with two myself. Okay bye!

I am newly converted to WordPress and love it. I will help you get set up if you need.
I must also recommend WordPress. Installs in minutes and works. Just plain works. You will need to turn on the option to allow uploads to post pics, but that's the only tricky bit. Not terribly hard. I'd be happy to help you.
If that won't work for you, I believe that flickr will post pictures to various blogware for you.
Plus: need KITTENS!
Funny... sounds like something my son would do. Speaking of funny school stories, my son played high school football a few years ago and one of his friends overslept one summer morning and never made it to practice. When he woke up and realized he missed practice, he panicked and phoned the coach and told him that his GRANDFATHER DIED. The team then proceded to have a prayer meeting for him, sent flowers to their house, signed a card and sent it, etc. When the coach finally called their house and spoke to the mother and expressed his condolences, only to find out that there was no dead grandfather, the ----really hit the fan. Kids are a riot.
Having melted a microwave whilst setting popcorn on fire, and then calling a friend who has the blessed characteristic of not remembering midnight phone calls AT ALL for advice as to whether I should call 911, as perhaps I had also created a building-wide electrical hazard (we decided against it), I greatly appreciated this tale. I will say, however, that I had no inclination to eat the charred popcorn.
Also, I agree about the merits of Word Press, even though I am not at present in active blog mode.
I've been using Typepad for almost two years now and love it. It's very easy to use.
Looking forward to the kitten pictures!
