Gravatar About BPAL-- try one of their imps samplers. Six tiny vials, just right for testing scents.

*eyes her latest set* Warning: the stuff's addictive. I'm pondering R'lyeh, myself.

Gravatar The cats are adorable.

I really like the 18th c. tub. For some reason, the juxtaposition makes me think of Discworld...

Gravatar As I swelter in a Sydney summer I enviously eye your snow. I'd love to be able to wear warm clothes more than three days a year.

Gravatar I love Bear's Retreat. Thank you for all the pictures to feed my jealousy.
The kittens also are adorable.
And you find the most interesting links. I'm torn as to whether I'd prefer to smell like my namesake or someone else.

Gravatar Speaking of links, way back on September 20, 2005, you quote the author of Got Medieval: "My discipline happens to be Medieval Studies. When I tell people this, they usually say something like, 'Oh, you must really love Medieval Times/the Renaissance Festival/SCA.' For the record, I don't. I study the Middle Ages because I think Chaucer is funny and middle English is interesting. I have no desire to put on fake chain mail or eat with my hands." What about people who do, in fact, want to put on fake chain mail or eat with their hands? For them it's Darkon.

Gravatar Thank you so much for the link to the Alchemy labs! I want ALL of them if they smell half as good as they sound!

Gravatar Oh, Wrath! Oh, joy! (not, you know, "Joy")

Gravatar I still think most of the descriptions are way over the top, but it's a good product. Even if some of the scents are rather eyebrow raising. There's a Lunacy release coming up on the 15th, or blends that are available for ordering only on the day of the full moon, so you might check the site that day to see if it appeals. Most of the Lunacy oils are lovely, and I think she's re-releasing the Celestials (scents based on the planets) with the Lunacies. I just received Sol in the mail this past weekend, and it's lovely. Very bright and warm and just the ticket when I'm feeling really down due to the lack of sun in a Seattle winter.

Be aware though that the wait time on orders from the Lab are running about *seven weeks* from order to delivery. The secondary market for these on the attached forum (bpal.org), on LJ and on eBay is very active and most folks are very generous. You can always find someone who is selling their 'Imps' to make room for other scents they'd like to try. Speaking of the secondary market - some rare scents command up to $100 for a 5ml bottle on eBay. No foolin'.

I'm wearing Mistletoe today, and love it's spicy evergreeny goodness. I've gone on and on here, but I hope you'll find at least one scent in the vast and occasionally confusing array BPAL offers!

Gravatar I'm rapidly falling in love with Bear's Retreat. Not so much that I'd want to live in it, but enough that I want to watch you live in it and enjoy it.

Hey check me on something -- I think I remember that you read your son the Little House books. Am I right about that?
