Dear. Sweet. Jesus.

And here I was, thinking I was sitting pretty with my handful of rare books...

Gravatar and it's all for yarn? yarn that could probably be subbed out with some J&S or other such quality wool?

I'm dumbfounded. dumbfounded I tell you. I can see paying a certain price for a book that's out of print. but YARN?

Gravatar Is this yarn worth some nutty amount for some reason I'm just not getting? Is it both the softest yarn on earth and infinitely durable?

Gravatar Remember the bumpersticker from the 1980's knitting craze? "She who dies with the most yarn wins." I think this lady won.
As long as I'm unlurking here for a moment, is there anybody at your house who could recommend a good biography of Tennyson? I went to graduate school, which proves that I can read any book, no matter how boring, (as long as it uses Roman characters), but I'd prefer one in English, and interesting if possible.
I really enjoy your blog. I've been reading for the last year or longer. I've also enjoyed and profited (in an intellectual way) from your English Department Web site. (I was having a problem reading Malory.)

Gravatar Well, for the approx. 400 skeins of yarn, at that price, they would be $6.88 per. I just don't get it. I mean, it isn't that pricey, but as sep said, couldn't you sub something else for less? Unless it's the sympathy factor that's selling it....

Gravatar Holy Camoley.

I've gotta have 400 skeins here, easy (well, once I finish spinning it all), but there's no way I'm going to get that much for it.

Shut up. It's a perfectly normal amount of wool to have.

Perfectly. Normal.

Fine.

Gravatar That's actually not too much to pay per ball, but it's a lot to pay all at once!

And 400 balls of wool, that's a lot of wool... (No, it's not *too much* to have lying around the house, really, but it's a lot of wool to suddenly add to your stash.)

Thanks for pointing this tidbit out to us. It made my day(dream).

Gravatar At the price it went for, it would be an EXCELLENT investment. If you were into that sort of activity.

Sam figures it at about $8.00 per ball, and one could easily get $10 to $15 selling them in smaller lots on eBay, especially if you could figure out some sweaters out of Tudor Roses that can be made out of them.

So that may be what the buyer intends.
