This is a blow. But it's only stumbling a bit after leaving the mark, not knocking over a hurdle.
Unfortunately I couldn't come up with an apt analogy invoking winter Olympic events. I'm pretty certain there aren't any hurdles involved in the winter, although that would make a race more interesting.
You shall overcome this tragedy! Adversity makes us stronger! Or, you know...something like that.
