Gravatar I haven't thought about Bernhard Center in years--Western's my alma mater. I actually chose Western in part because they offer a medieval studies minor for undergrads, but then I decided against it, for reasons which are now pretty darned murky. I did take a few classes that would have counted towards said minor, and Dr. Seiler's Dante class was one of the best ones I ever took. (I don't think Dr. Seiler is teaching anymore, but he was TOTALLY AWESOME and I'm not saying that just because he was on my honors thesis committee. He really was great.)

Gravatar It may be blytheringe, but it's still the best blytheringe around!

Gravatar There's a potential paleographer (not me, I'm not a medievalist) showing up at the blogger meeting, if you're still wondering where they all are...

Gravatar I like your blithering. I like the middle ages. I like knitting.
I like the fact that there is such a thing as a conglomeration of medievalists, even though I am not one.

Gravatar I, too, am rather fond of your blithering.

I'm also fond of your kittens.

Gravatar What Ryan said -
Blytheringe good -
I check in every day - there must be something to it -
And your kittens.

Gravatar The correct salutation when meeting REALLY REALLY old attendees at such a conference is "Dr. -----! Why, I haven't seen you in a thousand years!"

Carl

Gravatar I'm a blitherer. What's wrong with blithering?

Gravatar I love paleography and hope to be a paleographer someday. I was at the conference, giving a paper in a late antique session. I'm glad that someone else thinks paleographers are sorely needed in academia these days!

Gravatar A friend of mine desperately wants to be a professional medieval paleographer. She started out at one Major University where the relevant professor was retiring. He recommended her to Other University. A year after she arrived there, the resident paleographer retired there. No wonder more paleographers are needed... and it's so hard to find new ones.

Gravatar I hope you write about the session for medievalist bloggers. Wow!! Will wonders never ever cease?

Love reading about your life, at the conglomeration as well as at home. How goes the war with the invasive plants?

Gravatar It's hard to find a paleography course; there's none offered by my department, though a very very rare one (first time in, oh, twenty years) is being team taught this year--when I have to work.

I'm planning to take one or more of the special summer institute sorts of classes, later, and in the meantime, I'm doing what I can on my own.

It was lovely to "meet" you in the roundtable blogging thing. And I like blithering, and knitting.
