My university has an Ag Field day every spring. This year, the entomology department sold lovely, crispy-looking chocolate-chip cookies.
With bugs in them.
Ick. But good for your boy.

Hey, I have a few of those bug lollipops. They make excellent stocking stuffers.

Back when I was a new Teaching Assistant, my very first semester, I was sent into the classroom of the department's entomologist to conduct the end-of-year evaluations.
It was the last lab of the semester.
After I came in and explained why I was there, he held out a plate of cookies and asked me if I wanted one.
Fortunately, my brain worked pretty fast in those days. Before my hand could reach out, and before my brain thought, mmmm, cookies! my brain thought, wait a moment - this guy is an entomologist and he is offering you cookies. Something is wrong with this picture.
It was only then that I saw the legs in the cookies. His special "chocolate chirpies" (chocolate chips with crickets). He also had sugar cookie surprise, which had mealworms.
I also understand that one year he served egg rolls with a crunchy surprise in the center.
For an ecologist, I'm really a pretty picky eater. The only arthropods I willingly consume are shrimp and crab.
