I couldn't use it, either. Because I'd have to say, "tenured, FORTUNATELY, at a wonderful university" and I'd have to attribute whatever unhappiness I feel to my own laziness at not doing more research or to my own reticence to send off more journal articles without planning to polish them that "one more time" and then never getting around to it.
What is it that Tolstoi (or was it Dostoievsky) said about happy families? That they're all happy in the same way, and all unhappy families are different? I suspect it's the same about professors, and so only the commentary from the unhappy ones is interesting enough to make those academic publications.
I don't read things like CoHE any more, because I found when I was reading them, that I got the subtle sense that if I wasn't unhappy, I was either in denial or there was something else wrong with me. I've since decided that it's okay to be happy.
You know, it's spirit-crushing to be at a reasonably happy institution!
