It sounds as if the hotel, perhaps under the influence of those theater folks, wants you to "drape" your clothing over the bedpost or the window. It does seem like some layover hotels I've seen. I remember well the tiny hotel bathroom in Tokyo where those of us of the male persuasion had to make up our mind about what we wished to accomplish before we entered.
